Cardiff Blues boss Mark Hammett insists the form book will go out of the window as his side host Newport Gwent Dragons in the first game of their GUINNESS PRO12 festive double-header. The Blues have won four in a row at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park in all competitions, and have not lost at home to a fellow Welsh region in 2014. In contrast, the Dragons have lost their last five encounters with Welsh sides, but are unbeaten in three matches in all competitions. Hammett has made six changes to the side that beat Scarlets as he looks to utilise his squad over the busy New Year period. Gavin Evans is recalled at inside centre, former New Zealand international Jarrad Hoeata is declared fit to be named in the second row, while Ellis Jenkins is called in to wear the seven jersey with Sam Warburton ruled out with injury. But despite Cardiff’s superb home form, Hammett believes on derby day the team with the most desire and attitude could claim the spoils. "When you have derbies you have to be careful about looking at past form and strengths and weaknesses," he said. "Derby games bring out a greater intensity and a competition which can be different. "Often it's the attitude that wins these games over technique and tactical nous. Obviously you still build that preparation into your week, but we know at the end of it we have got to front-up attitude wise. "I've always believed that you do what you need to do to prepare. You've got to front-up and this game will be no different. "The players have got Christmas Day off, and so they should, to spend it with family and loved ones. "But, as we know, it's a massive game and very close to being sold out. It's critical that we perform at home in front of the supportive crowd." Meanwhile, Wales Under-20 international Tyler Morgan is the only change made by Kingsley Jones following Newport's 20-11 win over Zebre last weekend. The young-gun will partner up with Jack Dixon in the centres as the Dragons look to go unbeaten in December, and South African skipper Rynard Landman is looking forward to his first festive derby clash in Wales. He said: "I can feel the vibe already in the squad and coaches. We had a derby against the Ospreys and it was good so I can imagine the passion with the festive spirit taking it over the top. "I am excited about experiencing that for the first time. Kingsley (Jones) has told me that it's going to be fast and a bit like Super Rugby. "The Blues had a good win against the Scarlets and are above us in the league at the moment so the next two games are vital for the region so that we can climb the table and get our campaign back on track.” At BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park, 14.05pm.
