One of the biggest dates in the Guinness PRO14 calendar will return in 2020 when Principality Stadium hosts the eighth edition of Judgement Day. The annual double-header will see Wales’ Rugby World Cup heroes collide in Cardiff in regional colours on Saturday 18th April as they put their international loyalties aside. Ospreys will take on Dragons in the opening match at 3pm before Scarlets welcome the Cardiff Blues at 5.15pm as the two teams from the West play host for the first time in the history of the event. Last season saw Dragons edge out Scarlets 34-32 in a thrilling contest, before Ospreys narrowly beat Cardiff Blues 26-23 to seal a Champions Cup play-off spot with a dramatic late Sam Davies penalty. ALL EYES ON CARDIFF SHOWDOWN Now into its eighth year, Judgement Day was first born in the 2012⁄13 campaign as the two eastern Welsh regions and two western Welsh regions went head to head for derby day glory. JDVIII sees both Ospreys and Scarlets nominated as the ‘home side’ in the climactic, potentially season-defining, clashes for the first time at Principality Stadium next year. The change means their players transfer to the more commonly used international dressing rooms on the ‘tunnel’ side of the stadium for perhaps the biggest Judgment Day to date. Last year the Welsh Rugby Union and the four regions moved to secure the future of Judgement Day, agreeing a new partnership until 2022 for the blockbuster showdowns.
