**Jamie Roberts has returned to the Guinness PRO14.** The Welsh centre has long been rumoured to be on the cusp of a return home and after seven years away, his move to Dragons has been confirmed. He returned to Wales after a short stint with the Stormers in South Africa amid the coronavirus pandemic, having left Cardiff Blues in 2013 and enjoyed spells at Racing 92, Harlequins and Bath. But he will now be based at Rodney Parade, with the 33-year-old already linking up with his Dragons teammates for training. And to mark his return, we thought we’d head back to a time when Roberts was unproven and just beginning to burst on to the scene – as he made his mark in a Welsh derby. # Getting his chance By the start of the 2007-08 season, a young Jamie Roberts had already impressed on the Welsh domestic scene – scoring 15 tries in 28 matches for Cardiff RFC between 2005 and 2007 – and was knocking on the door to be involved at Cardiff Blues. The 20-year-old got his chance at the start of the campaign with many of the Blues’s established stars away at the World Cup and on August 31, 2007 he made his senior debut – helping his side beat rival Ospreys 17-15 in what was, coincidentally, the first Celtic League match to have a video referee.
