**Rugby goodbyes are always an emotional affair but few brought people to their feet and to tears quite like John Muldoon’s farewell to Connacht.** Two years have passed since the Sportsground offered the perfect send-off to a man who had proudly donned the green for 327 appearances across 16 years. From a rookie to club captain and into the Champions Cup for the first time, Muldoon had been in Galway for the good, bad and everything in between since his first appearance in 2003. But still the best was still to come, captaining Connacht and putting in a man-of-the-match display to lead them to an inaugural title with victory over Leinster in 2016. Fast forward two years and Leinster would once again take centre stage in Muldoon’s playing narrative, with his final game coming against those in blue on April 28, 2018. The rest is a pure rugby fairytale.
