While the try scorers and the points kickers may get all the glory it is those that make the tough tackles that are the unsung heroes of the Guinness PRO14. And nowhere is their spirit embodied more than with the Ronseal Tackle Machine award winner from the Guinness PRO14 Awards 2020, Connacht’s Paul Boyle. Back-rower Boyle, who let’s not forget is still only 23, registered a staggering 98.3% success rate from the 179 tackles he attempted across the course of the season as per Opta stats. And his efforts across the campaign, as his side finished fourth in Conference B, represent the latest landmark in the upward trajectory of Boyle’s fledgling career.
