Few things are more important in rugby than a reliable goal-kicker and Munster boast one of the best in the business. With a 90.91 per cent success rate, JJ Hanrahan is this season’s Gilbert Golden Boot winner and Johann van Graan can rest safely in the knowledge that he has one of the best gunslingers in town. Hanrahan successfully converted 50 of his 55 goal attempts, while he finished with the most points of any player in the Guinness PRO14 – with his 121 comfortably clear of Ulster’s John Cooney in second place. Like Cooney, Hanrahan’s hard work was done on the tee. He nailed 34 conversions – missing just five – while incredibly, he also sent all 16 of his penalties sailing through the posts. To put that into context, Dragons’ Sam Davies missed nine of his 26 attempts, while Ospreys’ Luke Price missed five of 22.
